Guide: Battery and Charger Pairing

Pairing batteries with chargers

A battery and a charger are a pair: the charger must match the battery type it charges, and the pair must fit the workflow it serves. This guide explains pairing in general terms: what matching means, and what happens when it is wrong. No models and no parameters are stated, because none are evidenced.

What matching means

Matching means the charger serves the battery type: the battery's chemistry, its form, and its connection. A charger for one battery type cannot be assumed to serve another, even when the two batteries look similar. The battery types guide explains the battery types, and the charger selection guide explains the charger types; pairing is the step that joins them.

Matching also means the pair fits the workflow: how many batteries must be ready at once, where charging happens, and what power sources are available. A pair that works at a desk may fail on location, where mains power is absent and USB sources are the only option. The workflow should decide the pair, not the catalogue.

What goes wrong when pairing is wrong

A charger that does not match the battery will not charge it, will charge it slowly, or will charge it unreliably. Any of those outcomes looks like a product failure, but it is a pairing error: the wrong charger was chosen for the battery. The cost is not just the charger: it is the shoot that waited, the batteries that were not ready, and the day that was lost.

A pair that does not fit the workflow fails differently: the batteries are ready, but not when they are needed, or not where they are needed. A team that charges at night needs a different pair from a team that charges between takes. Naming the workflow in the inquiry prevents both kinds of failure, and it costs nothing to be specific.

What to ask next

Name the battery types you use, how many must be ready at once, where charging happens, and the market you sell into. Ask for the specification for the exact pair, the quantity terms, the lead time, and the certificates for your market, by name, with documents attached. The bulk battery and bulk charger inquiry pages list these confirmations.

Before payment, confirm the minimum order quantity and lead time for your order. Certificates are available upon request.
